Leeson 098003.00 DC permanent magnet motor is used in industrial and commercial applications, including conveyor systems, pumps, fans and machinery requiring variable speed control.
A. The primary difference between a permanent magnet DC (PMDC) motor and a general-purpose DC motor is their stator construction or design. A stator of a general-purpose DC motor is made of an electromagnet, whereas a PMDC motor stator uses permanent magnets. A PMDC motor is more efficient than a DC motor as these motors do not require field excitation separately. A typical DC motor needs to be excited using its field windings which can cause copper loss.
A. Before selecting a permanent magnet DC motor, consider the electrical specifications required, such as the voltage rating of the power supply & power output required for application. Then, take note of other factors like frame, enclosure, insulation and mounting data of the motor to be selected for proper motor installation.
