Working Mechanism

  • The working of the magnetic circuit protector (MCP) is based on the magnetic effect of the current.
  • The MCP consist of a coil and a plunger. When the current flowing through the coil exceeds a certain level, a magnetic field is generated by the coil.
  • This causes the plunger to move, thereby opening the contacts and interrupting the current flow.
  • MCPs offer adjustable trip settings and can be customised to specific application needs.

Features

  • They are composed of high-strength, impact and temperature-resistant insulating materials for withstanding harsh industrial conditions.
  • These Freedom NEMA motor control starters come with adjustable bi-metallic overload relays and a magnetic circuit protector (MCP) that protects the equipment from overcurrent conditions.
  • They feature a compact design to provide installation in tight spaces.
  • They have NEMA-rated enclosures to protect against dust, dirt, rain and splashing water.
  • These non-reversing starters are included with a control power transformer that provides a lower voltage supply for control circuits, which helps to control the motor.

Standards and Approvals

  • CE
  • cUL
  • ABS

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between reversing and non-reversing starters?

  • Non-reversing starters are used to start and stop electric motors in a single direction of rotation.
  • Reversing starters, on the other hand, are used with motors that require both forward and reverse operation.

What is the function of overload relays?

These starters come with adjustable bi-metallic overload relays that provide quick and reliable protection against motor overload, thus preventing damage to the motor and the equipment.

What is a flange-style disconnect method?

A flange-style disconnect method provides a quick and easy way to shut off power to electrical equipment for maintenance and repair. Protective devices like circuit breakers are directly mounted to the enclosure using a flange that is bolted securely to the enclosure.
