Working Mechanism
- These EGSDC Series DC circuit breakers incorporate both fixed thermal and magnetic trips.
Fixed Thermal Trips
- Fixed thermal trips are based on the heat generated by the current passing through the circuit.
- The trip unit contains a bimetallic strip sensitive to temperature changes.
- As the current increases, the bimetallic strip heats up and bends, triggering the breaker to trip.
Fixed Magnetic Trips
- Fixed magnetic trips use the strength of the magnetic field created by the current passing through the circuit.
- The trip unit contains an electromagnet sensitive to changes in magnetic field strength.
- As the current increases, the magnetic field strength increases and when it reaches a certain level, it triggers the breaker to trip.
Features
- Eaton EGSDC Series DC circuit breakers have a contact design that pushes away contact arms for protection during false currents.
- They have thermal-magnetic trip units for protection against overloads and short circuits.
- These circuit breakers feature a three-pole configuration to protect all three phases in 3-phase electrical systems.
Standards and Approvals
- UL
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a circuit breaker and a fuse?
A circuit breaker can be reset and reused, while a fuse must be replaced once it has blown.
How to choose the right circuit breaker for a specific application?
Choosing the right circuit breaker for a specific application depends on the electrical load requirements of the circuit, the voltage & frequency of the electrical supply and the environment in which the circuit breaker will be used.
How to maintain these Eaton EGSDC Series DC circuit breakers?
- Inspect them for damage or wear.
- Test their tripping function.
- Check the tightness of electrical connections.
