Working Mechanism

  • When AC voltage is applied to the primary coil, it creates an alternating magnetic field in the core, which in turn induces a voltage in the secondary coil.
  • The voltage induced in the secondary coil is proportional to the ratio of the number of turns in the primary and secondary coils.
  • This allows the transformer to step down the voltage of the primary supply to a lower voltage suitable for use by the load connected to the secondary coil.
