EATON Counter Encoders
Eaton counter encoders are used to measure the position or motion of an object and provide precise and accurate information about the movement taking place. They can be used to count the number of rotations of a shaft, measure linear / angular distance or track the position of a moving object. ...They provide accurate pulse outputs for use with PLCs / counters and are available in single channel and quadrature-type options.Read more

Working Mechanism
- An encoder consists of a sensor, a signal processing circuit and an output interface.
- The sensor (absolute / incremental) detects the position or motion of the object and generates an electrical signal.
- The signal circuit processes the sensor signal and converts it into a digital or analogue output.
- The output interface (parallel, serial or USB) transmits the processed signal to the control system.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of double-sealed ball bearings?
Double-sealed ball bearings have two seals on either side to prevent dust, dirt and other contaminants. They are typically used in applications having exposure to a high level of debris or moisture.
What is the difference between absolute and incremental encoders?
Absolute encoders have a unique digital code for each position. Incremental encoders, on the other hand, generate pulses that are counted to determine position.
What is the function of quadrature encoders?
Quadrature encoders are designed to measure the position or rotation of an object and generate two output signals (A & B) that are 90 degrees out of phase with each other. The quadrature output signals allow the encoder to deliver more accurate position information than a single-channel encoder. By comparing the phase difference between two signals, the direction of rotation can be determined and by counting the number of pulses, the position can be indicated.
